What is radio frequency treatment?
Also known as RF and ‘body radio frequency’, radio frequency treatment works through thermal energy, which heats fibroblast cells deep within the skin to a precise temperature to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Results are long-lasting and can be seen immediately, and continue to improve in the weeks following each treatment as more fresh collagen and elastin is produced.
How does radio frequency treatment work?
Collagen and elastin form the foundations of our skin, giving it structure, strength and elasticity. As we age, collagen and elastin production slows and the structure of the skin begins to break down, causing fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and textured skin. Although supplements and a healthy diet can help, there’s nothing we can do to prevent this process from within – but innovative treatments like radio frequency enable us to restore a more youthful appearance.
Transmitted through invisible radio waves, heat from the device warms the underlying tissues and causes fibroblast cells to contract, triggering the collagen and elastin production process. This rejuvenates the skin, heals scars and results in a more youthful, plumped and smooth appearance. Radio frequency treatment also has the secondary added benefit of simultaneously dissolving fat cells, which are then naturally removed from the body via the lymphatic system. Overall clients notice a slimmer physique and firmer, toned and tighter skin post-treatment.

We’ve listed some of our most frequently asked questions about radio frequency treatment below. If you can’t see the answer to your question here, please get in touch.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the area or areas to be treated, your session should take up to an hour. Most radio frequency treatments are completed within 30-70 minutes.
Is there any downtime?
No – you can resume work and most other daily activities immediately post-treatment. We’ll provide full aftercare advice tailored to you following your treatment.
Is radio frequency treatment painful?
You shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort during treatment – some clients report a warming, tingling sensation beneath the skin when the heat is applied.
Do I need more than one treatment?
Normally more than one treatment will be needed to enable you to achieve your desired result – this will depend on your unique situation and objectives. Most people notice an instant improvement which continues over time and becomes more visible with each additional treatment. Typically we recommend between 6 and 8 sessions for best results. During your consultation we will advise you on whether a course of treatments will be necessary and how many we recommend.
How long will the results last?
Unlike some similar skin tightening and fat loss treatments, the results of radiofrequency treatment are long-lasting. Lifestyle adjustments may be needed in order to maintain your results. Radio frequency treatment can also be combined with other treatments where needed.
